“Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a developmental disorder characterized by distractibility, hyperactivity, impulsive behavior, and the inability to remain focused on tasks or activities. It is estimated to affect from three to 9 percent of children, and affects boys more than girls. Signs of ADHD usually appear as early as age two or three and symptoms change at puberty. The disorder is usually treated with psychostimulants such as dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine), pemoline (Cylert), or methylphenidate (Ritalin).

“Since many parents are reluctant to keep their children on medications, they have turned to alternative therapies for help. This paper will look at the effectiveness of massage therapy in treating children and adolescents with ADHD.”
