Why the film is not only very touching without being overly-sentimental, but it is also quite interesting for what it demonstrates about the raw needs, instincts and emotions of the unpolluted human mind.

“Francois Truffaut’s 1970 film The Wild Child is a poignant and fascinating tale of coming to age- with a major twist. The film is based on the actual story of the wild boy of Aveyron. The `wild boy` was found in the forest towards the end of the seventeenth century. At the age of about eleven or twelve, the boy had to learn what most people know by the time they are three or four. The film is not only very touching without being overly-sentimental, but it is also quite interesting for what it demonstrates about the raw needs, instincts and emotions of the unpolluted human mind.”
